HOW TO BUY THE BEST FREEZER
When it comes to freezers, space is money. Here are some factors to consider when finding the best freezer.
• Upright freezer: These look like regular refrigerators and typically have slide-out shelves, multiple drawers and racks, ice trays and other features you would expect from a fridge. Expect higher running costs and upfront costs compared to other types of freezers.
• Chest freezers: Similar to the freezers you see at the grocery store, these have a lid on top and are usually the most affordable to buy and run. Many brands also claim chest freezers keep food and drinks for a while after the power goes out.
• Bar freezers: This is the smallest type of fridge and is often used to put the extra veggies or meat.
How large (or small) a freezer needs to be depends on what you’re using it for. But upright freezers usually offer between 80 and 388 litres, while chest freezers can provide up to 700 litres’ worth of space. Meanwhile, bar freezers can give you between 80 and 150 litres.
