7-Eleven opens its new prototype convenience store at Adventure Crossing USA in Jackson on June 30, 2022.

While Slurpee Day might have everyone grabbing that free beverage, 7-Eleven Bring Your Own Cup Day gives everyone the opportunity to quench their thirst in a creative way. What vessel will you be sipping from?

Many people have a favorite cup. From that coffee travel mug that has been a constant morning companion to the water bottle that is always keeping you hydrated, not all cups are the same. What kid doesn’t know to keep their hands off mom’s special Tervis tumbler.

This year, 7-Eleven has decided that it was time for Bring Your Own Cup Day back. On August 27, 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards loyalty members can enjoy a beverage for $1.99 at 7-Eleven, Stripes and Speedway location. The key is to be a little creative with that cup.

According to Dennis Phelps, 7-Eleven Proprietary Beverages Senior Product Director, “We know that Slurpee drinks are a summertime staple for customers, so we’re bringing back BYOC Day to celebrate the popular frozen beverage for a second time this summer following a very successful Slurpee Day. We want customers to build the Slurpee drink of their dreams while having fun with their vessel of choice – and we can’t wait to see some of the creative cups they come up with.”

Of course, there are a few rules when it comes to the 7-Eleven Bring Your Own Cup Day promotion. Even though someone might want to bring that work bucket and empty the machine, that over indulgence might be a little too extreme.

Basically, there are three requirements. First the cup must be clean. It might seem silly, but only clean cups allowed.

Second, the cup needs to be watertight. Cracks, leaks and other issues are not tolerated. No one wants to cry over spilt Slurpee.

Lastly, the cup has to fit “with the 10-inch diameter hole in the in-store display.” While everyone enjoys a good laugh, no one should break the Slurpee machine. That issue would make everyone unhappy.

It will be interesting to see how creative people can be with promotion. From big wine glasses to a fish bowl to a cooler, the possibilities are many. Hopefully, there will be lots of pictures.
