There’s a New Cafe Next to Lupi & Iris

The landscape at Downtown’s Van Buren and Mason streets has been looking a bit different lately. There’s now Lupi & Iris, the restaurant inspired by the cuisines of the French and Italian rivieras. Plus, right next door is a little café, a little sister, you could say, to Lupi & Iris. Andiamo (777 N. Van Buren St.) is its name and it’s currently servicing your coffee, tea, juice and pastry needs.

When I popped in the cafe, the baked good selection included a few kinds of croissant, muffins and cookies. They’ve hooked with Matilda Bakehouse, which also has been doing pop-ups at Bavette and offering baked good at the charming Space Time Coffee inside the Dubbel Dutch Hotel. The treats would pair with your Stone Creek Coffee bev or Rishi hot or iced tea. I’ve been sipping an iced peach white tea from there all afternoon. Also, they just added beer, wine and liquor, but that’s for retail sale only.

Co-owner Adam Siegel plans to make this a grab ’n go spot for lunch, too. So at some point in the near future, the reach-in fridge will have sandwiches, salads and snacks. Although it’s a scaled-back spread for the time being, Siegel says they’re adding things each week.

If you want to hang out, there’s seating outside on the Lupi & Iris patio until 10 a.m.

Hours: Mon-Fri 7 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sat 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday hours are planned sometime in the future, as well.
