Happy Pride Month! Here is a Catch Up of this Past Week in New Providence and Some of the Many Exciting Things Going On and Upcoming in our Community:
– Last Friday we celebrated the life work of our wonderful Marjan Nirou Saniee, whom we miss so much, and Artist Bob Hill with our New Providence Public Art Committee and with family and friends. The Public Art Committee has brought much joy to our community. We are so grateful for their good work. We will always fondly remember our friend and neighbor Marjan, her art, her vision, and her legacy.
– Last Saturday the NJ Sharing Network held their Annual 5K. It was a great community event. Thank you to all the generous sponsors and donors, volunteers, and participants. We are so blessed to have NJ Sharing Network in our community. They save and enhance lives through organ and tissue donation and honor donors and their families for their generous gift of life. They are also generous community supporters. We thank them for their good work.
– We honored and celebrated D-Day on June 6th. June 6, 1944, was a major turning point in World War II and allows us to reflect on those who gave their lives to guarantee the freedoms we enjoy today. We are grateful. We honor, we respect, and we remember.
– The Borough of New Providence will be receiving $223K for the 2022 grant cycle from the NJDOT $19.6 Million in Federal Grants for the Safe Routes to School Program. Infrastructure improvement projects to be funded through this program include the construction of sidewalks; pedestrian and bicycle crossing improvements; on street bicycle facilities; and the installation of new crosswalks, school-zone markings, and speed-limit signs. https://www.newprov.org/2022/06/njdot-announces-19-6-million-in-federal-grants-for-the-safe-routes-to-school-program
